Past Lives?

I’ve been reading some of Brian Weiss’ books lately (I’ve read Many Lives, Many Masters about 20 times) and I wonder how many other people believe and experience glimpses of past lives.

It seems like ever since I have REALLY opened up my subconscious to the idea and wanting to remember, I’ve been seeing snippets, having dreams and generally observing some unusual things.

Because as Brian says, hypnosis is a state of focused concentration that many of us experience every day – when reading a good book, when watching a good movie, when you drive home the last few blocks without realizing how you got there.

So we don’t have to be “hypnotized” by someone to experience the relaxation that can provoke past life memories.  A deep meditation or relaxed state (like when you get a massage) can do the same thing.  Your dreams are also important in giving you clues.

I guess the idea of knowing a little bit of “where we came from” helps us be in the here and now.  Helps us to understand who we are and why.  Guides us to be truly alive and live in the moment.

Have you had glimpses of past lives?

Is Your Life a 10?

How do you rate your life?  On a scale of 1 to 10, is it a 10?

Mine is!

I start and end each day with a positive affirmation.  This motivates me to look at each day as a new chapter (or page) in my life.  This day is not going to be like yesterday, nor will it be like tomorrow will be.  It is today and I’m going to live in the moment as I will not have the chance again.

I never know if the day will go along with my expectations of it, but I always have the intention of adapting my outlook and attitude to be in harmony with the flow of events.  Now, don’t think I adjust that easily.  I am human and not perfect, but at least having the intention of modifying my mindset when needed, makes it easier to “go with the flow”.

I remind myself to be grateful and appreciate the blessings in my life.  I look for the good in people and praise the good in me.

I spread love and positive energy to everyone I see, whether it’s a smile, hello or kind word.

I intend every day to create my future.  It is a powerful tool to bring forth the life that I desire, the life that I deserve.

I surround myself with wonderful, beautiful, supportive, positive people.  This is the key to a fulfilling life.

I don’t want to sound like a saint.  I have my days and moments where there are still challenges in my path and it has taken me a long time to get to this place in my life…a lot of introspection, struggle and self-realization.

Just like me, YOU deserve to have a “10” life!  Everyone does!

If your life isn’t a 10, make it one!  You can do it!

Happily Single

“Single is not a status.  It is a word that describes a person who is strong enough to live and enjoy life without depending on others.”

Enough said.

Aha Moment

I remember it so vividly.

I was getting ready for work one morning and in my running around, glanced at myself in the mirror.  Something struck me.  I realized that I was having difficulty looking at myself, REALLY looking at myself and being happy with what I saw.  I looked in the mirror again, REALLY looked this time and that’s when my Aha Moment happened.

I was suddenly breathless, my eyes opened wide when the thought hit me.  For the rest of my life, I need to be able to look in the mirror and be happy with the person looking back.  I have to be content with and accept all the choices and decisions I have made in my life from this moment on.  I cannot compromise on any of my values, on how I should be treated and what I deserve.  I decided then to love me first.

It hasn’t been an easy road.  I have stumbled a few times.  But I’ve gotten right back up and continued on with another lesson under my belt.  Every day I am still confronted with situations that make me think, is this in agreement with my declaration in front of the mirror that day?

I love myself and know that I am a beautiful being worthy of all the blessings that come my way.  That’s what keeps me in alignment with my intention.

Have you had an Aha Moment?

National Day of Unplugging 2012

I just stumbled upon this and I’m going to try to “unplug” to a certain degree.  At least get outside and enjoy nature or meet with friends instead of phoning or texting.  Please try to participate, on some level, if you can.  It starts at sundown tonight 3/23 and runs to sundown tomorrow, 3/24.

Remain Calm

A friend of mine started using this phrase in a humorous manner when someone would start to panic about something very mundane.  I use it too occasionally to remind someone they are over-reacting about something trivial.

But I thought about it the other day and I should be also be using it as a mantra…Like when life’s struggles threaten to shift my attitude from positive to negative.  When all the bills get delivered together in the mail on one day (remain calm), when that car cuts in front of you (remain calm), when there is so much to do and not enough time (remain calm), when you still haven’t made dinner and it’s 9:00 at night (remain calm).

Imagine what a zen-like place this world would be if we all just chanted “Remain Calm” ?

Just Breathe

Don’t worry

don’t stress

don’t fear

don’t cower.

Be strong

be confident

be powerful

be grateful.

Slow down and

– enjoy the sun

– appreciate nature

– smell the flowers.

And….

just breathe.

Tap Your Inner Strength

There comes a time in everybody’s life when they need to tap into their inner strength.  This inner strength is called upon in times of need, heartache, desperation and other emotional situations.  If you’re having trouble tapping your inner strength, remember the following tips next time you find yourself in a tough emotional situation.

Calm Yourself.  When you are angry or upset, you cannot see or feel past the emotion that you are feeling at that moment.  Calm yourself down through deep breathing, meditation, loud music or whatever works for you.

Get Emotionally Centered.  Do this by reminding yourself that the moment you are experiencing does not define you and it does not define your life.

Look Beyond The Moment.  Do this by reminding yourself that this time will pass and with the passage of time, your anger, frustrations and hardships will also pass.

Remind Yourself of Difficult Times in the Past That You Have Successfully Conquered.  This will show you that you have been a strong person and will continue to be a strong person.

Stay Positive.  Nothing good or productive comes from pitying or feeling sorry for ourselves.  Keeping a positive attitude will help you get through any tough time period of your life.

I wanted to share this as it has helped me through some challenging periods in life.  I keep it on an index card in my purse as I never know when I may need it.

Remember that we are all powerful and capable of facing difficult and unpleasant times in our lives.  We just have to uncover that strength from within.  It’s there, it’s always there.

Being Alone but Not Lonely

It was Friday afternoon and I was excited that the weekend was here…I had thoughts of people I wanted to see, what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go.  It was going to be an exciting, fun weekend!

But as is usual with the universe, what happened is what was supposed to happen, a quiet solo weekend at home.  Which wasn’t a bad thing at all!

The hours went by Friday night and into Saturday without a phone call.  I then realized that this time was meant for me to do what I really wanted to do.  I wanted to lay in the sun and read a book.  My niece had let me borrow “The Hunger Games” and I was interested to see what all the fuss was about.

Because I was doing something that I enjoy, something that brings me joy, even though I was alone… I didn’t FEEL alone.  I planned more activities with myself for Sunday, more sitting outside reading, dancing, doing yoga, writing, cooking, crocheting and was excited at the idea of having a fun weekend doing what I wanted to do!  YES, I do enjoy my own company!

It has taken some practice being alone (not FEELING alone).  I had to remember that my love and connections with people are sustained even when we are apart.  In fact, I have found that alone time makes me a more peaceful, grounded person…better for all my relationships.

I had to fight these thoughts:

 – No one wants to be around me because I’m not worthy.

 – No one is thinking about me or cares about me.

 – I’m afraid to be alone.

It’s OK to be alone.  Everyone needs some alone time now and then.  And the amount of time will vary depending on how much you need to unplug, clear your thoughts and get grounded.  Remember though that too much time alone can make us feel lonely, can actually make us retreat from that human connection that we all need and actually resort to activities that exclude the outside world.  It’s a delicate balance, but listen to your inner voice, your intuition.  It will tell you exactly what you need.

“Regardless of the dosage, solitude is a deep, soothing, and persistent call in life…alone time is vital to our peace and existence, a route open to us for survival.” – Ester Shaler Buchholz
